PC*Miler 39 Version Release

Highlights of PC*Miler 39, the annual version release include:

  • IMPROVED With each new version, PC*Miler’s routing algorithm is enhanced to generate the best routes and the most accurate travel times and distances for your vehicles. Improvements since version 38 include:

    • Estimated travel time enhancements. Estimated travel times (ETT) have been improved by analyzing truck ping data, resulting in an overall average increase to ETT accuracy. Learn more about these improvements.
    • Improved site boundary routing. Routing near site boundaries has been enhanced to prevent incorrect road closures and avoidances around un-gated site boundary intersections. Sites include boundary polygons and detailed information about entry/exit points, vehicle restrictions, accessible hours, and more. Enhanced precision of site boundaries results in more accurate routing near site locations.
    • Revised hazmat tunnel designations. Hazmat tunnel designations have been updated for greater precision and control in routing.
    • Improved routing in Kentucky. Weight limit routing in Kentucky has been improved to better reflect restrictions on state-maintained highways while allowing for local accessibility.
  • IMPROVED Map data updates: Version 39 includes all of the road map data updates in North America starting at Q2.1 2024 and ending with Q2 2025. Some highlights include:

    • 794 new construction road projects added
    • Over 16,000 new POIs added to the Places Database
    • Over 17,000 new site locations coded, including distribution centers, retail storefronts, manufacturing plants, and truck stops/service centers
    • More than 1,400 miles of new highway-level network added in the US
    • Truck through-travel restrictions updated within over 350 city limits and outlying regions
    • More than 18,500 customer-reported issues reviewed and fixed
  • IMPROVED Toll enhancements

    • The EZPass-VA toll discount program has been added for the Powhite Parkway.
    • Data for the new NYC Congestion Relief Zone toll system has been introduced.
  • IMPROVED Bug fix and other improvements

    • Fixed a rare issue where discounted toll costs were not calculated correctly for specific routes.
    • Route costs and currency conversion rates have been updated for PC*Miler 39. See rates used for PCM 39.

  • FIXED Resolved an issue where using special characters when passing vehicle dimensions caused the system to load a default routing profile instead of the customer-specified profile.

  • FIXED Resolved an issue in the PC*Miler Web Services Microsoft Excel add-in where using certain default vehicle routing profiles resulted in incorrect toll cost calculations.

  • FIXED Resolved an issue where passing ProfileName or ProfileId in GET/POST Route Reports requests could result in inconsistent mileage calculations.

  • FIXED Resolved an issue where incorrect vehicle dimensions were sometimes used to calculate truck routes in Europe.

  • NEW Introduced the Road Snap Report in the Derived Route Reports API. This report processes GPS pings and returns locations aligned (“snapped”) to the nearest road segment, improving accuracy by correcting GPS drift and matching coordinates to valid roadways. (Requires add-on license.)

  • NEW A Commercial Routing Only setting is available for your API key if you only want to generate routes using the latest Trimble map data, and do not need to call older versions of PC*Miler. Contact us if you are interested.

  • IMPROVED Derived Route Reports now support the TollDiscount parameter, allowing toll cost calculations to consider discount programs.

  • IMPROVED Mileage, State, and HOS Reports now accept a TimeStamp parameter, enabling trip arrival or departure times to be set in ISO 8601 format. This ensures EtaEtd values are returned in local time with the correct UTC offset.

  • IMPROVED Enhanced the error message for the Speed Limit Report when a GPS ping cannot be snapped to a routable road.

  • IMPROVED Updated map data for the Single Search Geocoding API in North America, Europe, Middle East, and Asia.

  • FIXED Resolved an issue that caused incorrect toll calculations in Germany.

  • IMPROVED Added two new reports to Derived Route reports:

    • The Speed Limit Report returns road speed limits based on a series of latitude/longitude pings. This report can enhance real-time applications where precise speed limits are needed for decision-making. (Requires add-on license for speed limits.)
    • The Fuel Tax Report calculates the distances driven by state or province based on a series of latitude/longitude pings. This information can be used to create distance records for IFTA fuel tax reporting for vehicles that travel across state lines or Canadian borders.
  • IMPROVED Updated map data in North America.
