PC*Miler 40 Version Release
Highlights of PC*Miler 40 (PCM40), the 40th annual version release include:
-
IMPROVEDWith each new version, PC*Miler’s routing algorithm is enhanced to generate the best routes and the most accurate travel times and distances for your vehicles. Improvements since version 39 include:- Traffic Closures Integration: Improved road closure handling by integrating a live traffic incident feed, which provides accurate start and end times. Users now get real-time impact assessments for closures that may expire during their trip when using “depart now” planning.
- Increased HOS Stop Limit: Raised the total stop limit for trips that incorporate Hours of Service information to 255, providing greater flexibility in route planning.
- Site Routing Improvements: Fixed technical bugs in site routing, resulting in improved performance and more accurate handling of site paths, gate usage, and boundary restrictions.
- Improved Routing Consistency: Enhanced route path creation logic to provide greater consistency and eliminate scenarios where unexpected routing could occur due to underlying data constraints.
- Ramp/Highway On-Off: Enhanced highway on/off logic to avoid situations where trucks are routed off and back on to the same highway.
- Estimated travel time (ETT): Enhancements that were introduced to PC*Miler’s
Currentdata version in July 2025 are now included inPCM40. You can review the details of these enhancements in our ETT FAQ.
-
IMPROVEDMap data updates: Version 40 includes all of the road map data updates in North America starting at Q2.1 2025 and ending with Q2 2026. Some highlights include:- Over 310 new construction road projects were added.
- More than 60,690 new POIs were added to the Places Database, officially surpassing 6 million locations in the Places library.
- 57,067 new site locations were coded, including distribution centers, retail storefronts, manufacturing plants, and truck stops and service centers.
- More than 1,660 miles of new highway-level network was added in the United States.
- Truck through-travel restrictions were updated in over 125 city limits and outlying regions.
- More than 27,688 customer-reported issues were reviewed and fixed.
For more details, please see our North America map data release notes.

NEWThe Freight Rail API was enhanced to include:- A new AutoRouter endpoint that generates one or more rail route options between an origin and destination—often spanning multiple railroad networks—by automatically selecting viable carrier legs and interchange junctions. (Similar to the AutoRouter feature in the on-prem version of PC*Miler Rail.)
- A new JunctionRailRoad report, which summarizes the route by junction/interchange sequence.
-
IMPROVEDIn Account Manager, fleet managers can select preferred fuel vendors that will be prioritized when CoPilot searches for Fuel Station stops along a route. The Places API’s PUT/place/{placeId}endpoint has been updated to accept arestrictedFuelLocationflag (true/false) to mark specific locations within those preferred vendors as “not approved.” TherestrictedFuelLocationsetting can also be retrieved with a Place’s other information using endpoints such as/place/{placeId}/details.

NEWThe Places API now includes aGET /filterendpoint that lets you find locations by combining search criteria including:- Geographic filters: Specify a location (point) with a search radius, a specific country, or both.
- Business filters: Narrow results by brand name (such as “TRAVIS” or “PILOT”), category (such as “Truck Stop” or “Gas Station”), or both.
Use this endpoint to efficiently locate facilities that match your operational needs.

IMPROVEDAdded a new parameter,MaxAirTravelDistanceFromOriginalPing, to Derived Route Reports.MaxAirTravelDistanceFromOriginalPingsets a maximum allowed straight-line (“as-the-crow-flies” / great-circle) distance between each GPS ping you submit and the point on the road network that the Derived Route service snaps it to. It lets you set a tolerance so low-confidence snaps are handled predictably instead of skewing your results.

IMPROVEDThe Route Reports API has been updated to reduce latency and process more requests at once. Instead of processing routes one by one (e.g., Route 1, then Route 2, then Route 3), the system now initiates processing for all routes in a single request at the same time. -
IMPROVEDSeveral improvements were made to the routing algorithm, including changes to:- Eliminate most through travel on dirt roads.
- Avoid unnecessary through travel on other local or sublocal roads.
- Avoid routing on and off the same highway.
